A drainage upgrade for a courtyard that held water after every storm. New stormwater lines, pits and a strip drain, laid to the right fall and tested before the paving went back.

We checked the existing lines with a drain camera, dug new trenches, laid PVC stormwater pipe on bedding sand and set the pits. The strip drain now catches water along the house, and the courtyard was reinstated once everything was tested.

Key Areas

Stormwater:

New PVC stormwater lines laid in open trenches to the correct fall, joined to new pits, then backfilled.

Courtyard:

A grated strip drain along the house and new pits under the pavers, so surface water drains away instead of pooling against the walls.

Inspection:

A drain camera run before and after the work to find the problem, check the new lines and confirm everything flows freely.

Details

Pipe and Fittings

PVC stormwater pipe and fittings, bedded and supported along the trench to keep the fall consistent.

Pits and Grates

Inspection pits with removable grates, so the lines can be checked and cleared in future.

Testing

Every new line flushed and checked with a drain camera before the trenches were closed.

Reinstatement

Trenches backfilled and compacted, and the courtyard paving and garden beds put back as we found them.
